Hello Don,
Wow, 33 years IS a good run, Don. With that history, selling the boat must feel like cutting off a chunk of your own anatomy. I only had 12 years on Bacchanal, and it felt that way to me.
I retired from surveying about 5 years ago and have not kept up with the used boat market much. I do know that it is slow due to increasing costs of everything. A CC44FC did sell, about 10 years ago, for $135K. That was the one built in SF by Dennis Cartwright. Since then, one sold in FL for much less, but it was highly modified, not in a good way.
My guess is that your boat, with the new equipment and recent bottom service might be worth $100- 120K. Today's dollars don't go as far as they used to. That $40K construction materials cost would be easily $100K or even more, today. That's a ballpark guess, knowing that the deal is between a willing seller and w illing buyer. These boats have earned a good reputation, partially by the demonstration of service in your circumnavigation. They do what they were designed to do rather well.
Hope that helps. Congrats to you both for such a good run.
Cheers, John
